Launching a premium wellness brand with the trust to compete from day one
Overview
Masseuse Massage Chairs has spent more than 17 years building trust in the Australian wellness space, with over 30,000 customers and a strong reputation in premium wellness technology. In 2024, the business expanded into the fast-growing recovery category with the launch of Masseuse Health Co. — a new brand focused on ice baths and infrared saunas.
The challenge wasn’t simply building another Shopify store. It was creating a premium digital experience that could position a brand-new player alongside established recovery brands, while strategically leveraging the credibility, infrastructure, and operational maturity of the parent brand.
Launching into a crowded market where trust drives conversion
The Challenge
The recovery and performance wellness category has become increasingly competitive, fuelled by growing consumer interest in cold therapy, heat exposure, and longevity-focused health practices. Buyers entering this space are highly considered. Products range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, meaning purchase decisions are driven by trust, education, credibility, and perceived product quality.
Masseuse Health Co. needed to feel established from launch — not like a new business trying to earn legitimacy. At the same time, the new brand needed its own positioning and identity. Leaning too heavily on the parent brand risked making it feel like an extension rather than a standalone category leader. Ignoring the parent brand altogether would mean forfeiting nearly two decades of trust and operational credibility.
The site also needed to launch quickly enough to capitalise on seasonal demand within the recovery category.
Building a premium Shopify experience designed for considered purchases

We designed and developed a fully custom Shopify storefront engineered around the realities of high-value, considered e-commerce purchases. At the same time, we strategically introduced the heritage of Masseuse Massage Chairs in moments where trust mattered most — reinforcing credibility without diluting the new brand.

We also developed a content architecture designed to support long-term brand authority. This included educational wellness content, maintenance guides, recovery explainers, and athlete-focused editorial pieces that support SEO visibility while strengthening trust and engagement throughout the consideration phase.

Masseuse Health Co. launched successfully into a highly competitive category with a digital presence that feels established, premium, and conversion-ready from day one. Balancing independence with inherited trust
Why it Worked
Brand-extension launches often fail in one of two ways: either the new brand becomes overly dependent on the parent brand, or it distances itself so aggressively that it loses the trust advantage entirely.
Masseuse Health Co. was carefully positioned between those extremes. The new brand has its own identity, audience, and visual direction. The parent brand’s credibility appears only where it strengthens conversion and reduces hesitation. Combined with a Shopify experience designed specifically for high-value considered purchases, this created a launch that felt mature, credible, and ready to compete immediately.

Shopify handled the operational infrastructure — payments, inventory, fulfilment, and tax — allowing the project focus to remain on conversion strategy, brand positioning, and customer experience.
